driver

A brand-new car is hanging high in the air, upside-down, bondaged as a submissive item. Multidisciplinary artist Alice Héron uses shibari, the Japanese art of bondage, to eroticize the everyday objects that surround us. In the quest for alternatives ways of touching, the bondage technique, redefines the relationship between bodily performance and tension. The luxury car, symbol of a bling-bling capitalism, has been suspended by erotic forces. The rope embraces the curves of the shiny roaring fast-speed machine and elevates us into a contemplative silent experience of shape. The power of eroticism to flip upside-down capitalist materialism and drive us into the vertigo of senses.

COME ALIVE is a seductive, large-scale exhibition about the power of pleasure in Het Nieuwe Muntgebouw, Utrecht, Netherlands, from June 3 – July 31, 2022. With installations, films, games, sound and performances, more than 45 artists pull out all the stops to make our bodies the first and most important gatekeepers. COME ALIVE shares love without reason to bring new values to life. Together we will find a way out of the hyper-commercialization of romantic love and sensuality, using pleasure as a soft weapon.
