Reasearch: Astronauts have tastings in the foodlabs before leaving to space to make sure the food satisfy them, that they will get enought nutrients and energy from it They are also getting trainings on how to eat with 1/6 gravity.
Dish: customed drink depending on what the persons needs
Set design: vaccumed sealed pouch, light boxes.
JELLY NOODLES
Research: Growing fresh veggies in space is one of the biggest challenges. Astronauts are craving for fresh crunchy foods. Textures has a huge influences on our well being and signs of fatigue and depression has been notice if eating only soft foods. Taste buds are also working with gravity and eating in space can feel boring, astronaut tend to eat more spicy and more salty.
Dish: Mungs bean jelly cakes, colored with cucumbers it looks like aliens. the noodles are scrapped with a tools, and mixed in with chilli oil. Fresh carrots and cucumber toppings, fresh basil, coriander and mint peanuts?
Set design: Aromatic from the dish are presented under pinkish light.
LUNAS
Reasearch: Tortillas are a sapple food in space, acting as a plate and food, it replaces bread that could create crumbs dangerous for the machines.
Dish: Blue corn tortillas with rolled tamago omelette, pickles and salsa.
Set design: Blue corn tortillas, moon ceramics.
SPACE LANDSCAPE:
Research: In the spaceship fridges have just been recently installed (2020) before this space was use to collect and store space findings (rocks, dust…)
what if those would get mixed up during dinner :)
Dish: different textures of dessert, chocolate brownies, tapioca, caramel, mochi, honeycomb blocks.
Set: Silver emergency tablecloth, food spread landscape, silver cups and spoons for serving.
